Strabismus

stravismos tsioumasIs an ophthalmic problem, which consists in the difficulty of both eyes to work together in order to simultaneously monitor the same object at different eye positions.

As a result, one eye staring straight ahead and the other up, down, right or left. It may occur at any age, but the appearance of strabismus in childhood can lead to a decrease of vision (amblyopia).

What are the types of strabismus?
The stavismos is a disease with great complexity, variety of causes and special customization per patient case. This complexity results, the condition to be divided into several subcategories. Sometimes the name describes quite accurately the problem. Thus described e.g. the time of derogation such as endo-, exo-, over and under, kyklostrofikos strabismus, inner and outer, permanent or not in the presence of strabismus (overt or latent, method or worn), continuous or not in the presence of strabismus (permanent or dialeipontas strabismus), the fixed angle of departure on different eye positions (coherent, non-coherent) and depending on whether squint only one eye or both, distinguish the strabismus as contralateral or epallassonta.

The two most common forms of strabismus is esotropia, when the eye is rotated inwardly and Exotropia, when the eye is rotated outwardly.

What is a suitable treatment;
Depending on the type and age of the patient can be used glasses, prism lenses, overlay, Λίφτινγκ Ρυτίδων injections and surgical repair. Often you may need to do a combination of the above.
